Library of Congress Ceremony

 

 

At a special ceremony at the Library of Congress in Washington DC, interviews of 25 Vietnam Veterans from Guam were submitted to the Veterans History Project (VHP). The VHP is a national archive for Veterans and is housed at the American Folklife Center.

 

On September 15, 2022, Robert Underwood, the project director for Bitiranu Gi Geran Vietnam, presented the VHP forms and thumb drives . Accepting the interviews were Nicole Saylor, Director of the American Folklife Center and Monica Mohindra. Ms. Mohindra is Director of the Veterans History Project.

 

About 30 people came from the Guam community in Washington DC. Special recognition goes out to the Guam Society of America for their assistance, especially Mike Blas. Former Congresswoman Madeliene Bordallo, former Assistant Secretary Tony Babauta, Representatives of CNMI Delegate Gregorio Sablan's office and Guam Delegate Michael San Nicolas came to the event.
